Cleaning our mouth especially the teeth and the gums are an essential part of oral care. With proper oral care, proper and regular brushing of teeth and flossing improves dental health and keeps harmful bacteria away. Harmful bacteria are the leading cause of gum infection they are being formed from food particles not removed, then plaque are formed from these bacteria producing toxins causing gum infection.
Untreated gum infection can deliver serious pain and discomfort, gingivitis is the earliest form of gum infection it is being indicated by red, tender, puffy, swollen and gums that bleed easily especially during brushing. When allowed to progress gingivitis can lead to periodontitis where gum infection already spread below the gumline affecting the gum tissues and bones. Heart attack and stroke are linked to chronic gum infection.
With proper oral care, gum infection can be avoided. Bacteria should be eliminated through daily brushing and flossing of teeth. Rinsing the mouth with natural mouth rinse made from warm water and salt is an effective solution for keeping bacteria away. Oral care also includes avoiding practices that contribute to the development of gum infection and gum disease, smoking and alcohol are the most common practice. Dental visits should be included in your oral care regimen. Early detection, diagnosis and treatment of gum infection can be administered, preventing it from taking its place.

The foods that you ingest contributes with your dental health. Food choices such as starchy foods and rich in sugar attracts harmful bacteria. Milk and dairy products are rich with Vitamin D are best in having a healthy and strong set of teeth, lack of calcium results in weakened teeth and bones. Vitamin B- rich food such as whole grain bread helps in healthy blood regeneration.
Your food choices is not the only contributor into having a healthy set of teeth and gums. Bad habits such as bad oral hygiene, smoking and excessive alcohol intake are the other risk factors in having a healthy teeth and gums. Healthy food choices, proper diet, proper oral hygiene and visits to your dentist are the factors in getting a healthy teeth and gums and preventing from having swollen gums and other forms of gum disease.

Gum disease is not a permanent condition, thus reversing it is very possible with proper oral hygiene. The most effective way in reversing gum disease is through superior oral hygiene, though there are also some other ways.
Reversing gum disease is simple and easy and can be conveniently done a home. Gum disease is caused by plaque build up that is why it is necessary to do the daily cleansing of mouth through brushing and flossing and also by using oral health care products that are safe and effective. Removing the plaque is one way of effectively reversing gum disease and stopping the spread of gum infection.
Gum disease if left untreated can progress into a more serious dental problem and it may even trigger certain serious medical conditions. It is necessary to see your dentist for prescription and treatment of gum disease especially with serious cases.
